eOSCAR Registration Guide

Learn how to register with eOSCAR (Online Solution for Complete and Accurate Reporting) to manage credit bureau disputes efficiently.


What is eOSCAR?

eOSCAR is the credit industry's web-based platform for handling consumer disputes. Developed by the Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA), it allows data furnishers to receive, investigate, and respond to disputes from all three major credit bureaus in one centralized system.

Prerequisites

Before registering for eOSCAR, you must:

  1. Be Credentialed - Complete credentialing with at least one major bureau

  2. Have Active Reporting - Be currently reporting data to credit bureaus

  3. Company Information Ready

    • Legal business name
    • Business address
    • Tax ID/EIN
    • Data furnisher codes from each bureau
  4. Authorized Contacts

    • Primary administrator information
    • Dispute response team contacts
    • IT/technical contact for integration

Registration Process

Step 1: Access eOSCAR Registration

  1. Visit the eOSCAR website: https://www.e-oscar.org/
  2. Click New Users > Register
  3. Select Data Furnisher as your account type

Step 2: Complete Company Profile

Required Information:

  • Company Legal Name
  • DBA (Doing Business As) if applicable
  • Business Address (physical, not PO Box)
  • Mailing Address (if different)
  • Federal Tax ID (EIN)
  • Industry Type/NAICS Code
  • Company Size

Furnisher Codes:

Enter your unique identifier from each bureau:

  • Equifax - Portfolio ID
  • Experian - Data Reporter Code
  • TransUnion - Data Furnisher ID

Step 3: Set Up Primary Administrator

The Primary Admin has full system access and user management rights.

Required Information:

  • Full Name
  • Title/Role
  • Direct Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • Preferred Username
  • Password (must meet complexity requirements)

Security Questions:

  • Select and answer 3 security questions
  • Used for password recovery

Step 4: Configure Dispute Routing

Notification Preferences:

Choose how you want to receive dispute notifications:

  • Email alerts (recommended)
  • System inbox only
  • Both email and system notifications

Email Recipients:

Add email addresses for:

  • Primary dispute handler
  • Backup/secondary contacts
  • Compliance team (if applicable)
  • Management (summary reports)

Routing Rules:

Set up automatic routing based on:

  • Account type
  • Dispute reason
  • Bureau source
  • Account status

Step 5: Technical Integration (Optional)

For automated dispute processing:

API Access:

  1. Request API credentials from eOSCAR
  2. Download API documentation
  3. Work with GoFinFi to integrate dispute feeds
  4. Test in sandbox environment

File-Based Integration:

  1. Set up SFTP connection to eOSCAR
  2. Configure automated file retrieval
  3. Map dispute codes to your system
  4. Schedule automated polling

Step 6: Complete Training

Required Training Modules:

Before your account is activated, complete:

  1. eOSCAR System Overview (30 min)
  2. Receiving and Reviewing Disputes (45 min)
  3. Responding to Disputes (45 min)
  4. FCRA Compliance Basics (1 hour)

Training Access:

  • Provided via email after registration
  • Must be completed within 30 days
  • Certificate of completion required

Step 7: Account Verification

eOSCAR Review Process:

  1. eOSCAR reviews your application (3-5 business days)
  2. Verifies furnisher codes with bureaus
  3. Conducts security checks
  4. May request additional documentation

Common Documentation Requests:

  • Business license or incorporation documents
  • Proof of address (utility bill, lease)
  • Signed Data Furnisher Agreement
  • W-9 form

Step 8: Add Additional Users

Once approved, add team members:

  1. Log into eOSCAR
  2. Navigate to User Management
  3. Click Add New User
  4. Assign appropriate permission level:
    • Administrator - Full access
    • Supervisor - Can view all disputes, approve responses
    • Analyst - Can investigate and draft responses
    • Viewer - Read-only access

Supervisor

  • View all disputes
  • Reassign cases
  • Approve responses before submission
  • Access reports

Analyst

Viewer

  • Read-only access
  • Can view disputes and responses
  • Can generate reports
  • Cannot make changes or submit responses

Post-Registration Setup

Configure Dashboard

Customize your eOSCAR dashboard:

  1. Display Preferences

    • Choose default view (pending, all, by bureau)
    • Set items per page
    • Configure column display
  2. Alert Settings

    • Set deadline reminders (default: 5, 3, 1 day before)
    • Configure escalation alerts
    • Set up daily summary emails
  3. Reporting Preferences

    • Schedule automated reports

Account Security

  1. Password Requirements

    • Minimum 12 characters
    • Must include uppercase, lowercase, number, special character
    • Change every 90 days
    • Cannot reuse last 5 passwords
  2. Access Control

    • Limit users to those who need access

    • Remove departed employees immediately
  3. Two-Factor Authentication
